Processing Instructions

Thank you for choosing Maxwell Meats for your processing needs!

We have two dates for processing.  Sunday (Custom, not for Resale) and Wednesday (Inspected, for Retail).  Drop off is between 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Please give us a call at your earliest convenience to ensure your dates.

At the time of scheduling your animal/s please advise us of the type, age and approx. size of animal and if it is custom or inspected  so we can schedule you on the appropriate day of the week.  We will send you a calendar invite so that you will have the date as well via email.

Cancellation Policy

Please notify us of cancellations/changes 14 days before your appointment. We have a wait list of customers that would like an appointment earlier than scheduled so we appreciate the advance notice that you give us. Any cancellations made less than 14 days are subject to paying the slaughter & processing fee per animal(s) cancelled. If you have more than 6 animals then we require 21 days notice. If you book your appointment with more than 6 animals we will hold your credit card number on file.

Cut Sheets

Cut sheets are required upon drop off of the animal.  We process lamb, sheep, goat and pork within a few days so it is important to know how the animal is being processed for scheduling purposes. We appreciate your understanding.

When dropping off your animal at 232 North Main Street, Maxwell, IN. you will drive around behind Maxwell Meats Butcher Shop and unload animals near holding pens.  A Maxwell Meats employee will be there to collect your cut sheets, drop off forms and to provide you with the live weights of your animals.  It is your responsibility to unload the animals off of your trailer.  **All Cut Sheets must be filled out and given at drop off.  If we have any questions about your cuts and instructions we will give you a call.

Turn Around Time for Pick Up of Product

There is a minimum of a 3 week turn around time to receive processed product back. We do our best to get your product back to you in a timely fashion but it fully depends on the time of the year.

After we have completed processing we will give you a call to let you know your order is ready for pick up.  **Please be sure to leave the best phone number and email to reach you on your cutting instructions.

If the product is not picked up within 10 days of being notified by phone, you will be charged $10.00/day for storage for each day after the initial 10 days.  Please let us know if there is a issue with picking up within the 10 days and we will work with you.  (We know there may be instances where this can’t happen).  Our coolers fill very quickly and we need to move boxes as quickly as possible.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Notification of Processing Questions or Concerns

Questions regarding processing errors need to be addressed with management within 5 business days of receiving your finished product. We understand mistakes do happen so we would like to analyze the issue internally to make a decision on further accommodating any concerns financially. We will not be able to accommodate concerns after 5 business days.  It is the customers responsibility to go through the received product immediately to verify your processed product.   Our employees will go over the cut sheet with you and have you sign off on everything you received.

Financial Responsibility of Producer

If for any reason that your customer does not satisfy their portion of expenses, you the producer that owned, brought & scheduled the animal is fully responsible for those expenses. We do not structure your product/animals sales for you. This is an agreement that you made with that party and not our facility. Therefore the original producer is responsible for compensating our business for any services rendered.

Payment of Product is required in Full at time of pick-up.
